I’m probably going to lose some people with this post, and that’s okay. If something like this ruffles your feathers, I probably don’t want you wearing my brand anyway.
I stay out of politics. I don’t pander to one race, religion, or set of beliefs. We won’t be blacking out our profile picture, changing logos, or selling rainbow flags just to make a sale. That’s not who I am.
Iron Patch Hat Co. has customers, supporters, friends, and family from all walks of life.
Juneteenth is tomorrow, and whether it means something to you personally or not, it means something to a lot of Americans.
I’ve seen a lot of folks spending more time making fun of it or talking down to others than trying to understand why it matters. That’s not really how I was raised.
You don’t have to celebrate every holiday. You don’t have to agree on everything. But showing a little respect for what matters to other people costs nothing. Black Americans have overcome a lot throughout this country’s history, and Juneteenth marks a chapter of freedom worth remembering. At Iron Patch, we believe in hard work, personal responsibility, family, faith, and treating people with respect. That doesn’t change depending on who we’re talking to.
Happy Juneteenth to those celebrating tomorrow.
