During my interview with NHK on Sunday, they asked me two questions that made me think and realize a few things. They asked how long we’ve been doing Sunday Service - and to their surpise, I said we just started last November. This event may be relatively new, but Makina has been around for 5 years now - which I just realized. To add to that, a lot of these friendships and bonds amongst people in the neighborhood go back decades.
They also asked if everyone that shows up knows each other. I took a look around and condfidently said yes. At some point in time we have all hung out - had cocktails by while hanging out at , driven the 110 together from Chinatown to Pasadena, celebrated new years , stood in the same line at Fosters Freeze for ice cream, watched the Craft of Speed documentary by together, shared a basket of chili cheese fries, participated in photoshoots with , driven Angeles Crest and the backroads of the Santa Monica Mountains with , had breakfast burritos , cheered with morning beers , joked over a quick lunch break , watched the Dodgers win the World Series and took pictures in front of the mural by . The list goes on. Yes we all know each other. Yes this is a real community. 🙏🏽🤝🫡
We’ve had a hell of a past few weeks and we want to thank you all for your continued support and enthusiasm. Having bless the neighborhood with their presence was validating to say the least. What an amazing day for Northeast LA. That being said, we will be taking a much deserved spring break this week! NO MIDWEEK MACHINES TOMORROW. Enjoy some quality time with the family, and we will see you all again next week! ✌️❤️🏎️
