this little patriotic heart was made from vintage buttons, old blue jeans headed for the discard pile, and forgotten fabric scraps that deserved one more story.

a small reminder that beautiful things don’t have to begin as something new.

i found a collection of old pages and couldn't stop thinking about them.

a practice page covered in the name "james hopkins" written over and over in gradually improving cursive. a page from a second latin book, illustrated with a twisted roman collar. an open dictionary with the word "perpetuate" at the top. pages from a midsummer night's dream. a ledger filled with repeated looping eights, like someone learning to write in a new way.

i don't know who kept these. i don't know how they ended up together, traveling through time to get to me. but they did.

i'm calling it the schoolmaster's papers — because that's what it feels like. someone's classroom. someone's handwriting. someone's careful, hopeful practice.

now these pages are a collection, packaged into translucent envelopes so you can see what's inside. each collection is different because the pages are different. no two will ever be exactly alike.

these are for the people who believe that old words deserve a second life. ♡

i have a small confession: i hoard word tags.

those tiny printed rectangles with a single word — dream, imagine, create, joy — i've been collecting them for years without knowing what to do with them. they felt too important to just use. too specific to bury in a pile of ephemera.

so i started stitching them to little fabric patches. added a vintage button. layered in a second piece of woven fabric underneath. turned them into something you could hold.

i'm calling this line words to keep — because that's what these are. words worth keeping close.

no. 01 has dream, joy, imagine, and create. each stitched by hand onto its own fabric square, about two inches wide. they come on a card together.

what word would you keep? ♡

i've been making something small and a little hard to explain.

i call them found & loved pieces — tiny fabric collages, about two inches square, made from rescued materials. each one has a woven base, a smaller piece of layered fabric, a heart cut from something old and printed with words, and a button sewn on by hand.

i started making them without a plan. i just had these little fabric scraps and vintage paper pieces that felt too meaningful to use in something bigger. so i started combining them quietly, at the workbench. and they turned into something.

the finished piece fits in your palm. you could tuck it into a journal, stitch it to something, or just keep it in a drawer because it makes you smile when you see it.

that's enough of a reason. ♡

what would you do with something like this?

wanted to do a quiet little check-in. ♡

i've been gathering and making by hand — and here are three things i'm genuinely proud of right now:

a neutral button collection, soft and creamy and full of quiet charm.
a mixed tones button collection, each one a little different, no two sets alike.
the sentimental scroll — a dreaming of joy piece, made with intention and love.

every one of these was found or made by hand. every one carries a story. no mass production, no catalog — just me, rescuing and creating with intention.

if any of these feel like yours, i'd love to know. what speaks to you? ♡

something i get asked: what do you actually do with vintage buttons?

here are a few of my favorites:

♡ anchor a journal page spread — one well-chosen button does more than a whole pile of stickers

♡ add dimension to a handmade card — layered with lace or torn fabric, it becomes the focal point

♡ tuck into gift wrap instead of a bow — tied on a ribbon, it makes the whole thing feel like a gift from another era

♡ mark a section in an art journal — stitched directly through the paper

♡ create a small shadow box — a mix arranged in a frame becomes art that's both decorative and meaningful

the thing about vintage buttons is they've already been somewhere. they carry that with them. ♡

what's your favorite way to use them? tell me below ✨

i drove to the oregon coast a few weeks ago.

and i found these. ♡

heart-shaped buttons on their original card. "made in england." $1.10 on the back. i don't know exactly how old they are, but they've been waiting a long time.

i'm not sure yet what they become. they're too special to scatter into a collection. i might keep them as a standalone piece. i might add one to a scroll. still thinking.

but i wanted you to see them — because sometimes the best part of this work is just the find.

a little heart, rescued from forgetting ♡

these vintage buttons were once tucked away in a box of forgotten notions, waiting for the right hands to notice them. now they're ready to become something tender, thoughtful, and entirely yours.

would you give these tiny treasures a second life? comment ♡ if you'd keep this ✨

behind every button in my collection — there's a moment.

a pause at an estate sale table. a "wait, look at this one" at a flea market. a friend saying "i thought of you when i found these."

my collections aren't pulled from a catalog. they're gathered, one by one, by hand, with intention. i'm a one-woman los angeles studio and every piece i offer has passed through my hands — chosen because it felt right, not just because it looked good.

no two sets are ever exactly the same. and that's exactly the point. ♡

i'm glad you're here.

look at this jar. it holds a lot of stories.

some of these buttons came from a blouse spotted at a yard sale. others came from a friend who was clearing out her mother's sewing room and thought of me. a few were found at a flea market — loose in a paper bag with a handwritten price tag that made me smile.

every button in my collection has a before.

gathered from estate sales, thrift stores, family drawers, and pieces of cherished clothing that had seen better days but still had something beautiful left to give.

i save them because i believe they're worth saving. because someone once chose them with care, and that care deserves to continue. ♡
