I started GFC in 2008/09, a few years after I started training Jiu Jitsu. At the time, I was curious about what kind of clothing brands existed in that world and, needless to say, there weren’t a lot of options. Since starting GFC, most—if not all—of the brands that were around back then have come and gone, while we’ve continued to slowly grow.
GFC is really an extension of me. From the ideas and graphics to athlete relations and even fulfilling the orders, I’m involved in every part of it. Every product we sell is something I personally wear-test and make sure meets the quality standards I expect from the brand.
When we opened East West Shop in 2015, we also started incorporating limited vintage and deadstock pieces into GFC. Much like our limited embroidered jackets and found workwear pants that we print our graphics on, these become one-of-a-kind or very limited pieces that I personally select for the line.
