Days gone by: UPS MD-11 freighter aircraft parked on the ramp at Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). UPS has since retired its MD-11F fleet, accelerating its fleet modernization plans and taking a financial write-down on the aircraft, officially ending operations of the three-engine cargo jets, following the grounding of the aircraft type after a tragic crash in November 2025.

Filmed at Honolulu's famous Reef Runway, this stunning Dreamliner, registration JA878J, had arrived earlier in the day from Osaka, Japan and was preparing for its return journey to Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND).

The Boeing 787-9 is one of the most advanced long-haul airliners in service today, featuring improved fuel efficiency, advanced aerodynamics, and passenger comfort enhancements. At the time this video was recorded, JA878J was approximately six years old and operating on Japan Airlines' extensive international network connecting Hawaii with destinations throughout Japan.
