Summer Time 🍉

How to you choose to spend these few warmer days a year? By the pool? By the ocean? In a Ferris wheel? At a desk?!

For me it’s peacefully and in great company of people 🍒

Touring some wineries this weekend, but not before heading out to a happy hour today, then a Chalk Festival, a brunch, then wineries 🍷

One of my favorite steps

There are a few steps to producing one silk Glass Veil. One of them happens to be my favorite - sewing in the tag. It has the business name on it, so if feels like I’m branding every single one of them, before letting them go into the world. A bit Texan of me (see the trip to TX post), but feels very gratifying. Maybe this is how Tom Hank felt in Cast Away, the movie, when he “… made fire!!!” Remember that?! 🍿

Loving Day

The “Loving” in Loving Day is actually the last name of Mildred and Richard Loving. The Loving Day Story begins when they were arrested for being married in 1958 because they were an in*******al couple living in Virginia.

Their case, Loving v. Virginia (1967), reached the U.S. Supreme Court. Their lawyers argued that laws against in*******al marriage came from slavery laws, intended to oppress Black people, and based on white supremacy. Other states had similar laws. Some of these laws applied to people of other races as well.

Loving Day

An annual celebration of live is held on June 12, the anniversary of the 1967 United States Supreme Court decision Loving v. Virginia which struck down all anti-miscegenation laws remaining in sixteen U.S. states. In the United States, anti-miscegenation laws were U.S. state laws banning in*******al marriage, mainly forbidding marriage between two different races, until the Warren Court ruled unanimously in 1967 that these state laws were unconstitutional.
