IT’S FINISHED. I finished the first cut of my feature film!
THE ORDER OF HERUS Chapter One: Dawn of the Heru. A 3 hour, Afrofuturist epic made solely by me.
I wrote my first screenplay during the pandemic, and five years later it has become a novel and now a feature film.
The process, briefly:
I wrote the mythology first. Then the screenplay. Then adapted it to a novel. I designed every character, faction, city, and vehicle. I used AI to render it. It was thousands of prompts, thousands of iterations, and an editing timeline I’m still not fully recovered from.
In February 2026, I started animating. I started over three separate times. Every few months a new model would launch, Kling 3.0, then Seedance 2.0, and the work I’d already finished would suddenly look outdated next to what I could do that morning. Eventually I had to choose, keep chasing better tools forever, or stop, commit, and actually finish the film.
I finished it. Which means you can watch the animation evolve in real time as the movie progresses. I’m leaving it that way for now. After feedback, I’m re-animating the entire film on one unified platform.
What AI did: it was my animation department.
What AI didn’t do: write the story, build the world, design the characters, or decide what any of it meant.
It’s a story about knowledge as liberation, about a god who taught oppressed people that they were never lesser. And it’s my love letter to Memphis.
It is meant to be a proof of concept for a live-action feature.
