Had the most traumatic afternoon of my life today. Had the pups out to go to the bathroom. They laid down on the couch for a quick nap before I had to leave for work. Within about 10 minutes, Novalee jumped up and bolted into her crate. She does that whenever she has an upset stomach so I figured that’s what was going on. Nope! She immediately put her back straight up against the back of crate, her eyes rolled back and she went down. Her collar caught on her pen and her head rolled forward and her tongue came out. I launched off the couch so fast, ripped her collar off, and tried to pull her out of her pen. She was completely lifeless. I went into straight hysteria -grabbed her back legs to pull her out of her pen. I got her about halfway out when the convulsions started. Pulled her onto my lap while screaming like a lunatic. Convulsions lasted maybe 30 seconds. She pooped during. Then it all just stopped and she started throwing up. 3 times and then just laid there. I got her cleaned up and laid her on the couch. That’s when the hives started. She was COVERED in them. Loaded her in the car and went for Benadryl. It was a 7 minute drive and by the time I got there she could barely breathe and her tongue was HUGE. I gave her a micro dose of liquid benadryl (childrens) and within a minute her breathing was normal. By the time we got home most of the hives were gone too. Took her straight to the ER vet. They did labs and said it was something environmental- a bee sting or something like that. Gave her steroids and Benadryl 3X/day for the next 3 days. I’ve never been so terrified in my life
