So if you have visited my shop you have seen "What" Mama Makes. It's pretty simple really. I'm a stay-at-home mom of 3 beautiful children. As they have grown I have gained in interested in how to fabricate toys and accessories for their and my life. Perhaps it's the desire to prevent "idle hands" and always be doing something. I'm a busy mom, much like every other mom out there. With a to-do list
a mile long I often feel like I need to justify sitting and watching a movie or a television show in the evening. How do I justify it? I craft and create while watching! Now I'm not lounging; I'm being productive. Perhaps it's the allure of multitasking. Prior to being a mom, I worked as a pediatric nurse. As a registered nurse, you are always multitasking. "Here's your medicine, but while I'm in here let's check your vitals." "Here's a blanket, but while I'm here let's talk about how you're doing." Once a nurse, always a nurse. It comes in handy when my kids are sick, but old ways die hard. So again my downtime and evenings are spent creating, planning, and dreaming up new projects while relaxing. Perhaps its the joy that comes from a handmade item. No mass production. No machine spit it out. Just time, love and creativity. Unique design. Perhaps it's the excitement of starting a new project. Stringing those first stitches together. The smell of a hot glue gun. Rows of colorful thread and choosing which to use. Perhaps it's the high of a project finished. The laundry is never done, but this baby hat is complete! All of these are probably accurate and more to go along with those. No matter the reason, I guess it's because I really enjoy it. I love the challenge, the creation and the completion of each item! I hope you will love them as much as me!
