Just added this gorgeousness to my shop.
Did you know that I specialize in modifying and personalizing existing garments? Obv, vintage can be a hard sell because they can be delicate, or run small, or look dated in a way that isn't wholly appealing. But with some clever moves, transformation can happen!
Does anyone else see the Stephanie Seymour high/low dress from the GnR November Rain video hiding inside this vintage beauty? Because I do! Rock star bride, waiting to happen...

As long as we're all in the game of re-visioning the world and our relationships, I will take a moment as an educator:
Supporting your local seamstress or tailor can mean talking about how clothing plays a HUGE role in environmental destruction and harms human health, from production to its final destination on the wearer. AND...
I've got a whole library of books, from designer profiles--and I would love to talk about African American designers and their contributions--to historical plates to current industry practices and their impacts. Please come and borrow one if you'd like, and have a conversation with me!
Learning to sew and being able to give the finger to mass-produced clothing IS being subversive. I will absolutely work with anyone that wants to learn, and I am open to trade/barter/whatever. Gift economy over capitalism!

Starting next week, June 2, Rosalba Couture will re-open on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30am--3pm at my Nelson Center office for alterations drop-offs and pick-ups, fittings, meetings, and shopping. And yes, I am making masks and taking orders locally.
I'm very excited to return to working (outside the home!) and to more easily serve the community. Mask-wearing will be observed and outdoor meetings at the adjacent park are encouraged when possible. Only one person will be seen at a time, which is no stretch, since my office can only really hold two folks at a time, ever.

One service offered at Rosalba Couture is jean patching--simple denim patches to blend in and repair a rip or something more creative with fun fabric collaging. Either way, it's a great way to extend the life of your favorites! Get ready for cooler weather now--bring in your fall and winter alterations!
