Here is a look at expected maximum wind gusts across the region on Friday, March 14, 2025. In order for a wind gust to be considered severe, it only has to be 58 MPH. Strong wind gusts of 50-60 MPH are not uncommon in western Texas and eastern New Mexico in March. 70-80 MPH wind gusts are not common! These damaging wind gusts will be intense through most of the day on Friday, with brown out conditions likely area-wide. Sustained wind speeds of 40-50 MPH are likely as well.
