Same Pose. Different Bodies. Both Practicing Yoga. 🧘♀️
Two experienced yoga practitioners. Four familiar postures. Eight different expressions.
Swipe through and notice the differences.
In Downward-Facing Dog, Cobra, Supine Twist, and Dancer, we’re practicing the same poses, yet each of us brings our own unique expression to the posture.
Why?
Because our bodies are different.
Skeletal structure, limb proportions, joint mobility, flexibility, strength, and individual movement patterns all influence how we experience and express a yoga posture.
Here’s something important: A deeper stretch, straighter leg, or greater range of motion doesn’t automatically mean a better yoga practice.
Yoga isn’t about making your body look like someone else’s. It’s about understanding how your body moves, recognizing its capabilities and limitations, and finding an expression of each posture that works for you.
At Foundations Yoga and Therapy, we believe thoughtful yoga instruction recognizes these differences rather than expecting every student to fit the same shape.
The goal isn’t to make every posture look the same. It’s to honor individual anatomy, movement, and expression.
