🎻 WOW!!! What a day! 🪕❤️

Our very first Bluegrass on the Hardwoods was more than we ever could’ve hoped for! We’re estimating at least 70–75 people came through Madison Dry Goods today — some carrying instruments and ready to pick, and plenty more who just came to pull up a seat, tap their toes, and enjoy some good old-fashioned bluegrass music. 🎶

There was just something special about hearing those banjos, fiddles, guitars and voices filling this old building. The hardwoods were FULL, the music was incredible, and seeing so many folks gathered together simply enjoying one another’s company made for an absolutely amazing afternoon.

THANK YOU to every single musician who came out and shared their talent with us, and to everyone who came to listen, shop, visit and support us. Y’all made our first one a day we won’t soon forget! ❤️

Today, the music at Madison Dry Goods sounds a little different. 💔

With the heartbreaking news of Dolly Parton’s passing, we’ll be playing Dolly throughout the store this week in her honor. 🎶

Dolly has been so much more than a singer to me. She’s been an inspiration for as long as I can remember—a strong Appalachian woman who came from humble beginnings, dreamed bigger than anyone thought possible, worked hard, stayed true to who she was, and never forgot where she came from.

I know I’m far from the only one who feels like we lost someone we somehow knew today. Her music has been the soundtrack to childhoods, road trips, heartbreaks, kitchens, front porches and generations of memories.

So if you come through Madison Dry Goods this week and hear Dolly playing a little louder than usual, that’s why. ❤️ We’re celebrating a life that brought an awful lot of music, laughter, kindness and light into this world.

Rest easy, Dolly. The Smoky Mountains—and the whole world—are a little quieter today. 🦋💔🎶
