After 23 years, Khaki & Black closed its doors for the last time today. I know Joel would want me to thank all of you for your friendship and support over the years. His store brought him so much joy. He loved interacting with his customers and fellow retailers and he believed in Madison. He thrived on finding new and exciting brands and chose carefully, always keeping his customers in mind. I am so grateful to our amazing staff; Kirstin, Jane, Elizabeth, and Karolina, for their devotion and support. Thank you so much for your sharing your remembrances of Joel and how he touched your lives. It has meant a great deal to our family. I’d like to end with a quote from a children’s book, Madeline. I posted the same quote when I retired after many years of teaching. It seems equally appropriate today. “And she turned out the light and closed the door, and that’s all there is, there is no more.” I hope when you hear
