My friend Alex who owns the shop has been telling us about the benefits of Savon de Marseille soap for soooo long that we finally had to bring in a selection to our own shop.
Each square is a whopping 300grams (10oz) of soap and is made in the traditional Marseille method. The delicate mixture of olive and vegetable oils, alkaline ash from sea plants, Mediterranean Sea-salted water and flowers for fragrance is heated for ten days in very old cauldrons, then poured into open pits where it hardens. Cut into cubes and stamped, the soaps are then set out to dry in the sun and mistral winds.
People love these soaps for their simple ingredients and because their moisturizing lather is gentle enough for sensitive or eczema prone skin. We love that it gives us such a beautiful story to be a part of and that it makes our shop smell incredible.
