Iconique β Cycle 2
Final 4: Deliberation
π¦πΊ Catherine β your Princess Belle impersonation was pretty well received by the judges mainly due to how the whole photo sets a tone that reminded us of the beautiful setting and iconic tale of Beauty and the Beast. What would have elevated it, even so, was if you showed more connection with the Beast to make you more believable as the character because we felt like you easily relied on what was present with you in the image and you could have expressed her personality more through any form of interactions. You took a risk with a unique approach for your Joker impersonation and it worked to some extent. We like how you easily gave us the vibe of the character through the appropriate colors and emotions that you presented in the frame. The plastic wrap was something that was out of the blue for him but you managed to work your way around it and still made us believe that his chaotic tendencies lead to whatever it is that you are doing in the photo. Finally, your Cruella De Vil photo garnered praises for how you were able to portray a modern version of the character that looked wicked yet still fashion forward. Just like your other Disney icon, you had the perfect set and styling, but this one sticks out because you actually did more as a model to resemble your chosen icon. The shiny fur coat together with the very cold and gloomy personality also helped you both in making your impersonation more convincing and adding impact to you as a model in a shot that was meant to be your peak.
π³π± Daphne β your David Bowie portrayal was accurate in terms of hair and make-up and it proves that you are able to carry different types of looks. However, in terms of your modelling exhibition, the judges were not a big fan of the sleepy eyes and open mouth as it reduces your appeal as a model. Moreover, this was the only beauty shot this theme that relied more on the styling and was deficient in the narrative aspects that what made the other impersonations shine bright. For your Britney Spears impersonation, the judges found your photo stellar in regards to modelling and visuals and we are happy to once again see you from head-to-toe with a fierce pose as we usually only get subtle beauty and half-body shots from you. In terms of portrayal, it would have been better if you chose something that is more meaningful and easily associated with the icon rather than a very specific outfit for a performance that is easily outshadowed by her more memorable ones. Lastly, your Princess Aurora impersonation had very mixed reactions. Some of the judges appreciate the creative links that you made using your description while the others were not convinced and felt like only the color made it accurate. It was, in fact, too couture for an icon that is actually known to be more elegant in her simplest ways but you still managed to make it fashion forward and gave the magical story of the Sleeping Beauty. As a winning shot, it was a risky move to go for something that not everyone might accept but it still shows your willingness to stand out.
π¬π§ Edie β you went beyond the judgesβ expectations with your Dani Ardor performance as you embodied her as the May Queen not only stylistically but also through your pose. You gave a decent homage to the dance scene in the Midsommar movie in a way that still makes you modelesque and fashionable, wearing an improved version of the original dress and floating high, metaphorically and literally. Your usual blank face works greatly with the personality of the character as well making it look natural and fitting. Sadly, your Alice in Wonderland photo did not receive the same amount of love from the judges. Your co-model hardly resembles the Mad Hatter and it lacks the connection or interaction that was hinted by the reference and the description itself. We do, however, appreciate the whimsical and chic vibes that fits well with the story and the world that the character was transported to. Overall, the impact of the impersonation felt half-baked and we were not over the moon with this photo. Then there is your Charlize Theron impersonation which shocked everyone as we expected you to choose something else given that we have seen quite a similar side of you before during the previous rounds. You chose a reference photo of the icon without much substance, class, and sophistication then tried to bring the aspects to your own photo instead but the outcome was not as successful as expected. Charlize is indeed an iconic woman on her own and you do have resemblance in your physical features but we would have preferred to see you do something that gives more impact and the extra element of surprise.
π¨πΏ Karolina β your Nurse Ratched impersonation was indubitably a stand out at first glance. It was hard to find any faults as the editorial itself was made to work with the story of the character. The set-up. photography, lighting, styling, mood, and even the addition of the co-model all fits well with the original film. Nonetheless, you still have the credits as you played the part well with your villainous icy cold stare and your inhumane pose. It made the photo look like a still from the movie that could be used to persuade people to watch it and know more about the character. For your Maggie Fitzgerald photo, we like how you looked fashionable and tall. You showcased your beautiful long legs but at the same time captured the fighting spirit of the icon. Narrative wise, the photo could have used a better location rather than a plain background to truly make it feel like a winning shot and not easily faded when put beside other photos because the vital element that would make you stand out in this phase is the impact that your photo will leave to the audience. Your Joker photo received love as well. The cynical smile was so well done, as it looked crazy but not over-the-top and still fashion forward. The messy hair and the hint of sadness in your eyes were also very nice details that tells a lot about the characterβs story, personality, and behaviors that is popular and iconic to almost all of us. It makes you very fitting for the role of the female Joker and your reference photo could easily prove that claim.
