That really depends: Do you plan to use a convertible car seat from birth instead of an infant seat? Do you even know (it’s okay if you don’t)? Read below for more…
If you are planning to skip the infant car seat phase and select an infant ready convertible seat, then YES, add it! If you’re getting it for when your child outgrowns their infant seat, then NO, skip it!
Here’s a few reasons why:
1.) Your needs might change - planning too far into the future with a newborn can be complicated. You will better understand your needs when the time comes.
3.) Recalls happen - that seat might have a recall. It happens to the best of items!
4.) Expirations - the timeline on that seat starts once it’s manufactured so you will have used up 8-12ish months of that seats useable life with it just sitting in a box.
5.) Space - these seats are pretty large! While some might have garage or basement space to utilize, it might make sense to allocate that space for something else.
6.) The market will change - baby gear brands are constantly iterating and coming out with new products. When your child is ready/you are ready to move to a convertible car seat, there might be something better available!
