Hi Friends,
If you are a woman and/or a small business owner, please read this. As many of you know, I, Karen Feldman, am the founder of The Striped Sheep which manufactures shirts for women and children. All of our fabrics are custom designed by me. One of them is a rainbow fabric I created by choosing the Pantone colors, the number of stripes and the order of the colors. The fabric design underwent many many iterations until I was satisfied with it for women's and gender-neutral children’s shirts. This fabric has a copyright application pending.
Being a customer of Tuckernuck (tnuck.com), I sent them sample shirts late last year to see if there was interest in selling them on their site, as our customer base is the same. They loved my rainbow shirts and expressed an intent to order. They sent all other samples back and held onto the rainbow shirt for many months before deciding to hold off on ordering altogether. Fast forward 5 months and they created their own navy/rainbow shirt that looks exactly like mine. It is not a coincidence.
If any of you are on their email list, then you saw the below Evie shirt this morning. Seeing as I am trying to grow a brand by myself, selling on Tuckernuck would have been huge exposure for me. In the very least they could have credited The Striped Sheep as its clearly my fabric design.
What happened to women supporting women? Is it just a hashtag that we like to use on Instagram but not apply in real life?
Im disappointed in a female founded company run by highly educated women .
Please repost this to support the movement. It needs some work.
Thanks for reading,
Karen
