Bill Walton embodied community spirit. Tie-dye on TV, San Diego startups - his passion was infectious. SDSI (The San Diego Sports Innovators), “the house Bill built,” became a beacon for startups sole searching like Ponto. Bill, Bob Rief, John Sarkisian, Renne Catalano, and so many more connected us with established brands like , , , and so many more fostering a pay-it-forward environment for those brought up in the loving company of Bill. Always so focused on giving, and then challenging himself and others on how you could give more.

Bill saw equals everywhere. Cruising sunny San Diego on his bike, his smile was legendary. The “Bill being Bill” stories are endless - our fave? Bill singing a hilariously awkward Happy Birthday to Phil Knight for his 82nd birthday at The Portland Zoo!

Bill’s passing reminds us, especially in startups: life’s more than the grind. Find joy, be yourself, fearlessly. Give every moment a full-body yes, just like Bill. That’s his legacy - a San Diego entrepreneur and sports icon, who galvanized the sports & active lifestyle community into action.

Rest in power, Bill. To the Walton family, our community grieves with you. Bill’s memory, energy, and the community he built live on.

This made me text my Mom...and her response said it all ❤️

Years ago, at a conference, the speaker told us to text our moms (or a loving figure in our lives) “I love you”. It was a random Thursday. My mom’s first response? “Thank you so much, are you ok?”

This told me a lot:

💗 Moms, and those who love us like moms, are always checking on us, even with a simple ‘I love you’.
💗 We often say “I love you” in tough times, not enough as simple gratitude.
Turns out, everyone else had a similar experience! This Mother’s Day is a chance to go the extra mile and truly show those we love how much we care.
