NEW WORK: Bougainvillea Revisited⁠⁠
Look 4: Shirting Top and Skirt⁠

Continuing on the cracks theme, the white shirting was dyed black, then painted with a flour-paste crackling technique. This ensemble is nearly completely redesigned from the ground up from the original from 2015. The only link is the shirred waist, which allows the fabric to burst from the bust with fabric and beaded florals. What used to be a balloon skirt has been slashed into strips, letting the blooms embroidered on the puff skirt show through the "cracks". ⁠

In celebration of this Star Wars day, I'm digging into the archives and bringing back my favorite design ever, the Han Solo Blaster Pant, for a limited time order run! Check these bad boys out: inlaid suede piecing creates the suggestion of Han's thigh holster, with a screen-printed patch of his blaster, and a red suede nods to his Corellian bloodstripe in a modern way.⁠⁠ has two front pockets and one back pocket on the left side.

NEW WORK: Bougainvillea Revisited⁠⁠
Look 3: Denim Dress⁠⁠
⁠⁠
Made entirely out of denim, this dress has denim strips of black all topstitched along the torso in a radial pattern, and pleated denim skirt low-water dyed for the marbling effect and painted with flour-resist cracks. A bougainvillea burst, beaded and embroidered pours out the side with fuschia strips dangling. The dress has a fully b***d inner corselet and I'm particularly fond of the pink understructure that peeks through. ⁠⁠

This dress is a reworked quite far from the original 2015 version. Back then, I was for some reason hyperfocused on making the denim not look like denim, at all costs. Since then I've expanded my horizons to use utilitarian fabrics in couture contexts, a practice I want to continue exploring as I still remain biased toward silks and wools that are difficult to care for. Truly, it can't be denied how nice it is to be rough with a gown this elaborate. It’s nearly indestructible.⁠⁠

NEW WORK: Bougainvillea Revisited⁠⁠
Look 2: Corduroy Dress⁠⁠
⁠⁠
This dress was one of the more unique designs in the original Bougainvillea collection, due to the skirt volume coming from the center front and center back rather than the sides, thus creating simultaneously a curvy silhouette and a flared skirt at once. Containing the most textile techniques, this dress has corduroy strips sewn stacked on the side panels, dip dyeing, tie-dye, cracked-effect paint wash, bleach dip, AND embroidery. While that probably occurred due to some uncontrolled perfectionism, the final effect is a very unique piece.

Recreating the lost Bougainvillea Collection, Bougainvillea Revisited recreates the five 100% looks five years on, enhanced with experience and optimism in my exploration as a textile and fashion designer. ⁠⁠

My favorite piece of the original Bougainvillea collection was this jumpsuit. No need to break what wasn't broken, and so it's been recreated in close to its original form but with some added blooming. Hand tie-dyed, embellished, and embroidered by me. ⁠⁠
