The District is ALIVE

In a recent article in The Gazette, the author states that the “new” New Bohemia & Czech Village Group is “replacing what had been” The District: Czech Village & New Bohemia (a 501(c)(3) organization).

The District is ALIVE. It is has not been replaced. However, The District is transforming what it does to bring visitors and investment to Czech Village & New Bohemia.

As a Main Street Iowa organization The District does more than put on events.

A Main Street Iowa organization focuses on four points: (1) Design and Historic Preservation, (2) Economic Vitality, (3) Promotion and (4) Organization. These four pillars of success extend beyond holding events.

Since 2009 The District has played a crucial role in the vibe and excitement found in The District. We have ample evidence of success such as stellar visitor guides and our businesses’ receipt of state grants that require a local Main Street program.

Going forward The District will meet the needs of the Main Street businesses and organizations in new ways. For example, we will focus on modern multi media communication providing real time information on what is happening in The District.

In addition, our events will reflect collaboration with businesses, organizations and area artists, bringing visitors to Czech Village and New Bohemia in droves.

Our vision for the destination that is Czech Village and New Bohemia supports the uniqueness of the businesses and venues in The District. No one event fits all businesses and organizations. The work of The District extends to every business and organization in our area.

The District is and will continue to be relevant to all who live in, work in or visit Czech Village and New Bohemia.
