Doc's Repairs

I've been putting off making this post as it's been a rollercoaster of mixed emotions.
After nearly 6 years we closed for good on December 20th
As some of you know, we have been working through the loss of our family here in Iowa, and we decided to move out of state and take the shop with us.
We are looking forward to being with family once again and hope to re-open sometime next year in Northeast Illinois.
I want to thank everyone for their support over the years, and wish you all the very best this holiday season.

We are currently working through our backlog of orders and have started calling customers to schedule pick-ups as orders are completed.

We are not taking in any new orders at this time.

Diane came in today to pick up her boots and knew we had some family pass recently so she brought us a wonderful Toll House pie from Kathy's Pies & Bakery

So we're going to start doing videos of some of our repairs. This is the first of what will hopefully be many.

Leather/shoe care products have been flying off the shelves, but we just restocked for those last minute stocking stiluffers.

We are open Tuesday - Friday 2-6pm this week.
We will be closed the whole week between Christmas and New Year's, re-opening on Tuesday, January 2nd at 2pm.

We have JR soles and OEM (original equipment manufacturer) Allen Edmonds heel blocks and top lifts.
Was able to get these old shoes back to factory spec. before the holidays.

This is Rich Foens. Many of you may know him as Smitty.
He has been coming into my shop since I opened almost 5 years ago, mentoring, helping out and telling jokes.
Rich turned 85 this week and decided to hang up his apron for good.
He owned Smitty's shoe repair shop in uptown Marion, Ia and did shoe repair for over 75 years all over eastern Iowa.
He's not on social media, so please post well wishes here and I'll make sure he gets to read them.

Thanks for everything Rich. There will always be a nail to hang your apron on at Doc's.
