Did you know today was National Zipper Day!?

Why is it beginner sewers are so scared of zippers? I remember when I learned to sew, I needed a black skirt for an FFA outfit. I designed and made my own but I forgot about the zipper….My mother, Audra, said she would help me with the zipper…but I was intimidated and used Velcro!

Fast forward a few years…when we teach beginning sewers , we incorporate zippered bags…sometimes pillow covers!

Easy once you try them!

We love useful sewing projects and know so many of you love animals! Well, you can hone your sewing skills, bust through that stash, use that ugly fabric and help a fur kid with kennel quilts.

The nonprofit, Kennel Quilts, has volunteers that sew little quilts and send to animal rescues that have been hit by a disaster or have a need.

We sew them here for Marked Tree Animal Rescue in our charity sewing times.

Kennel Quilts has great patterns and instructions and are on Facebook!
