💛 Two years.
Grief is a curious thing. It doesn’t follow a timeline, and it doesn’t ask permission before showing up. Sometimes it arrives in the big moments. Sometimes it sneaks in through something as simple as cleaning out a purse👜.
Recently, I was going through my mom’s purse. As part of the grieving process, I’ve slowly been sorting through her things as my heart is ready. Tucked inside her wallet, folded where most people would keep cash, was this little piece of paper with a BIG message.
My mom was an evangelist.
Not the kind you see on television. Not the kind who sought attention for herself. She was simply someone who loved Jesus deeply and shared Him with anyone she felt led to. (See Eph 4:11-13)
One of my earliest memories—maybe age five or six—is watching my mom share Jesus with one of my dad’s hired farmhands. I can still picture it. My reserved Midwestern mama and this tall man jumping up and down in her kitchen praising God together after he accepted Jesus into his ❤️.
That memory is etched into my heart forever.
Finding this note didn’t surprise me. It was exactly where I would expect it—in her wallet, ready for the next person God might place in her path.
These precious words are more than just a sweet memory to me… In her words, written from her heart, so she wouldn’t forget to share God’s love correctly.
And honestly, I wouldn’t be my mother’s daughter if I didn’t share them with you, too. 💛
Here’s the prayer she carried:
✝️ Sinner’s Prayer
“Lord Jesus, I open my heart to You. I invite You to come in to be my Lord & Savior. Forgive me of my sins. Give me the gift of eternal life. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit. Give me the power to change and live for You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.”
If your heart is moved by these words and you spoke them, know that you are welcomed into the Family of Christ—alongside my mom, myself and countless others who have placed their faith in Him.
And if you’re one of those people who believes this was no coincidence that you’re reading this today... maybe you’re right. 💛✝️🙏🏻
