“Success is knowing that somebody walked away feeling seen. Feeling valued. Feeling a little less alone than they did before.”

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Burk. Hi Jordan, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself. This all started when I was a caregiver for my Uncle Kelly, who had Down syndrome. I helped care for him for about 14 years, and after he passed away, I wrote and illustrated a children...

Loved in the womb. Chosen with purpose. Created by God.

For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. Ephesians 2:10

Had a great little family moment tonight before Club Kelly & Kelso celebrating all things Kelly. We laughed, swapped stories, and even wrote a book together using a Mad Lib style game.

And honestly, there’s something kind of beautiful about a room full of people creating something silly together. Nobody worrying about getting it perfect. Just showing up, being present, and making each other smile.

Feels a lot like what Kelly always did best. He had a way of turning ordinary moments into the kind you remember later.

Tonight reminded me that sometimes the best memories are just people gathered around a table, laughing way too hard at a sentence that should’ve never made sense in the first place.

Tomorrow (May 22nd) we get to spend the morning at the Melissa Public Library and I’m really looking forward to it.

There’s something special about a room full of little kids, big imaginations, and storybooks that remind us kindness still matters. We’ll read stories from the Kelly & Kelso world, make some fun headband bug crafts, laugh a little, and hopefully send some families home smiling bigger than when they walked in.

If you’ve got a little one between 3–5 years old, we’d love to see y’all there.

Storytimes are at 10:30am and 11:15am tomorrow morning.

Sometimes the world gets loud. Storytime feels like a good way to make it a little softer for a while.

Happy Birthday! Today, a flag was flown over the United States Capitol in honor of my Kelly on what would have been his birthday.

Kelly was born May 21, 1952, and had Down syndrome. His life continues to inspire the work we do through Kelly & Kelso and now Kelly and Friends.

What a beautiful way to honor a life that brought so much joy, kindness, and love to others. 🇺🇸

Before Kelly ever took his first breath, God already knew him. Jeremiah 1:5 says, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you.” I believe that with my whole heart. Kelly was never an accident, never a mistake, and never forgotten by God. He was created with intention, joy, and deep love.

Today we’re celebrating Kelly’s birthday. And while he’s no longer here with us physically, good gravy… his spirit still shows up everywhere.

Honestly, if you knew Kelly, every day felt a little like a happy birthday. He had that kind of joy. The kind that made people smile bigger, laugh louder, and remember what really matters.

Kelly was born in 1952, when the world looked very different than it does today. Back then, people with Down syndrome were often underestimated or overlooked. But Kelly kept shining anyway. Just by being fully and wonderfully himself.

And now, getting to carry his legacy forward is one of the greatest honors of my life. To see his name and image connected to the reminder that every person has purpose and value exactly as they are… that’s something worth celebrating.

Kelly, you are deeply missed, but never forgotten, my dude. Love you always. 💙💛🐨
