It’s been 2 months since my last post – I needed a serious break from social media….and I still do.

When I re-branded at the beginning of this year, it wasn’t exactly what I expected. At the same time, I had my doubts. I previously had this page for local sewing alterations. Since I ended alterations due to my neck issues, I dreamed of starting sewing pattern designs. Even though I don’t have my designs for sale yet, I thought the right thing to do would be to post about it, talk about it, post my work in progress and I did do all of that.

Alongside my page, I started Instagram and that’s where I thought all likeminded people who are interested in my passions for garment sewing hung out. Turns out Instagram is a huge flop for me. Most of my followers on Facebook were from alterations, however starting fresh on Instagram now feels like a huge waste of time, I still have zero followers, and nobody knows I exist there.

However, I will keep at it and admit I’m not ashamed it’s not working on Instagram….and that’s ok, I still have an audience on Facebook, and I am grateful for all of you that stuck with me through my quiet times during my slow creation process. The image here is my latest creation, my tie front blouse, which I’ve been wearing a lot. It’s my second test, even though it’s not perfect, I still love it.💕

By the way, this post is on Instagram, but nobody will see it there. Still pics and carousels get ZERO views when you have no followers, only reels do! (That’s just me ranting) On a more pleasant note – have a wonderful week everyone!🌺🌸🌻

Taking a little social media pause for some deep creative work. ✂️ This month, my focus is solely on refining Toile #3 and getting these patterns absolutely perfect for you. (and a little mind zen)

Sometimes you just need to step back from the scroll to dive fully into the craft. I'll be back in April possibly May with a perfected fit and exciting updates on the Bernadette blouse pattern! The name is revealed!

I will pop in once in a while with a little tidbit for you. 🧐

Thank you for following the journey so far, even if it's just me and the sewing machine right now. 😉

Inspired to make a difference. ✨

The final lesson from my years in alterations? So many people simply do not fit into ready-made clothing. I’ve seen the frustration firsthand.

My mission as a designer at DIMA Dress Loft is to eliminate that frustration. It’s not enough to draft a technically correct pattern; it needs to celebrate the diversity of human shapes.

I’m putting those painful lessons to good use to ensure that when you sew a DIMA pattern, it feels custom-made for you. 😉🧵👗

PDF patterns coming in the near future!⏰

The high cost of a hands-on education. ⚖️

While alterations gave me an invaluable understanding of fit, it demanded a lot in return. For years, I traded time and physical well-being for the satisfaction of a perfectly tailored garment.

The constant hunching and pinning eventually led to cervical spine issues—Degenerative Disc Disease. It’s the "messy, exhausting" side of the journey I don't talk about enough.

I wouldn’t wish the pain on anyone, but I wouldn’t trade the knowledge. It’s why I’m so passionate about drafting patterns that prioritize comfort as much as style. You shouldn't have to sacrifice your body to look and feel good in your clothes.

Sending love to all my fellow makers dealing with the "sewing aches" today. Take a break and stretch! 🌿

Textbooks tell you the "rules," but alterations tell you the truth. 🧵

I used to think the fastest route to becoming a skilled patternmaker was to bury my head in books. I was wrong. My real education came from a "mountain of alterations."

For years, I dismantled and rebuilt ready-to-wear clothing. I didn't just fix a flaw; I reverse-engineered the logic of a garment. It was a crash course in how 2D fabric translates into a 3D human form.

Every DIMA pattern I draft today is informed by those thousands of hours of "hands-on" schooling.

Tell me: Do you find yourself constantly "fixing" store-bought clothes before you can wear them? 👇

Why buy it when you can make it (and make it cuter?)✨

I had this gorgeous napkin that was too pretty to toss but too lonely for a table setting. A few straight seams and bag of glass vase filler later, and my sewing space has a major upgrade.

They’re heavy, they’re sustainable, and they make cutting out patterns a breeze.🌬️

Headline: Which one should become the final Wrap Skirt sample? 🤔🧵

The 1/3 scale muslin was a success, and now it’s time to cut the final full-scale sample of the Half-Circle Wrap Skirt.

I’m stuck between these three! Each one gives the skirt such a different vibe.

Accessibility over expensive software. 💻📐

You may be asking what software I use for my PDF patterns. While Adobe Illustrator is the "industry standard," it's expensive and doesn't run on my Chromebook—which is the only computer I have!

I’ve been using Google Drawings for a while now, and it works beautifully. It proves that you don't need a $2,000 setup to create professional patterns.

Double tap if you’re a fan of finding "work-arounds" to reach your goals! 🙌
