Roots Collective

Roots Collective The Roots Collective is a group of ambitious visionaries dedicated to the economic growth, social awareness & self-sufficiency of black & brown communities No?

Peace Family,

We want to use the space as an opportunity to explain who we are. Many folks have heard, supported and built with us without clearly overstanding our vision and we thank you. Lets take you on a journey...

Roots Collective:

Roots Collective is a group comprised of six individuals: Danny Agnew, Omar Desire, James Mungin II, Caroline Lockhart, Isaiah Thomas and Armen Henderson. Each

member of this collective has been working diligently on the ground in either Liberty City Miami, Overtown, Opa Locka, Miami Gardens or Little Haiti. Our group was created because we identified stark similarities consistent with state violence being perpetrated in each of the fore-mentioned communities. Our mission is to use our community support, organizational connections and political pull to create spaces where community and organizations collide head on. We realized that oftentimes organizations doing grassroots work have an allotted time frame to build relationships with our oppressed beloved community while being bogged down with the pressures of meeting certain quotas necessary to satisfy campaigns that may or may not resolve our plight. Although the community can resonate it is of extreme difficulty for one to fully commit holistically to the movement as a result of many obstacles including lack of trust and inferiority complexes etc that are indoctrinated into us over centuries. We host our events for all parties involved to build genuinely organic relationships (without pressure) through human interaction. We overstand that we can never loose sight of the fact that historically music, dance and art have prevailed amiss the most genocidal periods ever recorded. Roots Collective hopes to continue to set an example of enormous contribution of collective POWER geared toward the Liberation of our people...

Roots Collective Clothing

Roots Collective Clothing is a cooperative business ran by Danny Agnew and Omar Desire. Our mission is to create thought provoking Afro-Centric Pro Black Apparel. Our services include custom customer specific graphic design, customized mass production of shirts, hoodies, tote bags, sweaters etc and printing services which include business cards, flyers, poster, banners, buttons and stickers etc. We not only create signature Roots Collective signature clothing but consciously work with like minded individuals to assist in making their creative ideas reality. As Revolutionaries we believe that our obligation is to lend our services to movements at home and internationally by creating collectively our OWN pro-people propaganda. Our alternative institution's purpose is to redefine how culture and Revolution are viewed and consumed by the masses. REACH OUT AND LET'S CREATE!! ( [email protected] )

The Movement ( How Does This All Tie In Together?)

It all makes since right? Ok let's break it down haha. You can define us as an ATG ( Against The Grain ) movement. Every individual in Roots Collective has undoubtedly dedicated their lives to FREEDOM!!! Our belief is that Freedom without the Freedom to create freely is not Freedom... We have consciously and unanimously made it our mission to flip everything we've learned about "organizing" on it's head by creating a new vision of the word. Simply put, the way things "work" doesn't quite fit in into the way we roll. Our clothing business is not geared towards capitalism but the belief that artivism is necessity and that our events are of importance in universal collective connection. "Give a slave Freedom and watch the World rejoice in abundance...." In closing we sincerely thank you for being the Revolution ( a fundamental change in power or organizational structures that takes place ) and implore you to continue to Create without restriction! "Love is the most powerful weapon in the world, if you wish to change anything just simply love it. Peace and Power.....
