This delicate dress is made out of fabric much like panty hose. The glass beads are glued on to the fabric. To hem this dress I had to VERY CAREFULLY steam over the glass beads with a hot iron until the glue softened, then I had to quickly peel each glass bead off by hand. I hand stitched the hem with clear thread. I absolutely love the way the hem hangs. I am lucky to have the owner of this dress be the perfect model for my post.

If you’ve been wondering what I’ve been doing in New York when I’m home from my monthly trips to St Kitts… I’ve been hired to be the patternmaker and grader for this very talented swimwear designer. She’s developed a very special bottom for the active swimmer that does not budge from its intended position, even the smallest of bikini bottoms!

I have decided to take on alterations once again, now that I have retired from our animal hospital. This is the first prom dress hemming alteration I have completed this 2022 prom season. Horse hair braid is not an easy project.

Mother requested I make a baby boy's Christening Suit out of her wedding dress. The entire suit was made from the wedding dress except for the buttons. The ribbon trim around the collar, sleeves, jacket and waist tabs were taken from all the ribbons inside her dress that created the bustle. We wanted to use some of the lace and beadwork so I added it to the handkerchief in the pocket.

Dress alterations for a Gala and Award Ceremony. Laurel was not completely happy with the design of the dress after she purchased it. We redesigned the shoulders and the center front V neck to freshen the design up a bit. We also shortened the dress. Congratulations on your award Laurel! Laurel Slomovitz Lustgarten

Bridal dress alterations for this Beauty! We did quite a few alterations including hemming the length, changing the boning in the front bust and waist, reducing the shoulder and neck area, changing the armhole and adding a bustle. We completely changed the size of the dress as well, resulting in major lace reworking.
