Well, posting the link didnāt work, so will do old-fashioned copy and paste. Iāll take the other post down:
My dad liked to collect things: mugs, pocket knives, books, tools, junk mail, and apparently, shirts. His closet and drawers were stuffed! We gave so many of his clothes away, to Impacting Tomorrow and MMM. But what to do with the shirts that reminded us most of him and his quirky personality? They didnāt fit any of us, and it seemed wasteful to just hold on to them.
But God. He orchestrates the details. A friend of a group that I volunteer with had asked our group to make āpillowcase dressesā for a mission trip to Honduras. You can use actual pillowcases, or fabric yardage. One day I ājust happenedā to realize that I could use Dadās shirts as fabric. I was thinking of baby dresses, and using primarily the back of the shirts with the largest piece of fabric available.
But God. He orchestrates the details. Shortly after my realization, someone else in our group posted a video that showed how to take a button down shirt and make the pillowcase dress out of the whole shirt. So we were able to remake and donate about 18 of Dadās shirts to medium sized girls in Honduras (who will be able to wear them much longer than if I had made baby sized dresses). The group leaves for their mission trip next month.
Dad didnāt get to go on a mission trip to Honduras, but we are sending his shirts in his name and in his honor. Iām pretty sure he wouldāve liked that.
