I was on the way to take my dog, Ace, to his doctor’s appointment when this thought hit me “Don’t see the wall, see the ladder.”
So often in life, we get stuck staring at obstacles our struggles, our setbacks, our disappointments as if they are permanent barriers. But what if the very thing we see as a wall is actually meant to reveal a ladder! A way up, a way out, a way forward?
The Bible reminds us in 2 Corinthians 4:17 that “our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all.” That means what looks like a dead end is often just a setup for elevation. The enemy wants us to feel trapped, but God has already provided a way. Faith isn’t about avoiding the walls it’s about finding the ladder.
When Joshua and the Israelites faced the massive walls of Jericho (Joshua 6), they didn’t stand there in defeat. They listened to God, moved in obedience, and watched those walls fall. What if the breakthrough you’re praying for isn’t about removing the wall but about trusting God to **show you the ladder** the lesson, the next step, the way forward?
I’m learning to shift my focus. Instead of asking, “Why is this in my way?” I’m asking, “God, where’s the ladder?” Because no matter what stands before me, I know God never leaves us without a way to climb higher.
