There are some people who walk into your life and leave a beautiful mark. Miss Jackie is one of those people.
I first met Miss during the very first summer I began selling So_Me_byjamelan. She radiated creativity, sunshine, and joy. I still remember her style, her energy, and how genuinely kind she was. I was honored when she asked me to create a pair of earrings inspired by the ones I was wearing—just a little smaller. The very first photo is the moment she received them… and immediately put them on. That smile says it all.
As time went on, I learned Miss Jackie Hyra wasn’t even local—she had been visiting her daughter. Even after she returned home, she stayed connected, collecting more pieces over the years. But she gave me something even more special: an incredible collection of jewelry-making tools, beautiful beads, and treasures that have helped me continue creating art. That generosity has stayed with me ever since.
We’ve kept in touch through the years, so when she messaged me to say she was coming back to town and wanted to see me, my heart lit up. I told her where I’d be during her visit, and sure enough, she surprised me at the Farmers Market Annex - Mpls MN.
The hugs started before the conversation did.
She told me she came to Minneapolis to see her daughter, her son-in-law… and me. What a gift those words were. Still as stylish, artistic, and wonderfully unique as ever, she shared that she’s a talented multi-medium artist herself. Suddenly, everything about her made perfect sense.
What began as a customer meeting an artist has grown into one of the sweetest, most unexpected friendships. Moments like these remind me that this journey has never been just about jewelry—it’s about the beautiful people it brings into my life.
