A few sewing projects have passed without getting them documented, but here's a quick one from today!

We're getting into the warmer months, which means HOT weather and cool clothes. Unfortunately some shirts beg for an undershirt. Instead of layering up, trying to find just the right combo of undergarments, an additional layer can be sewn into the original shirt. It's now an easy throw on, still airy, and comfy shirt for the summer!

This Air Force flight jacket had a bit of an odd mending situation. The seam stitching broke down before the material showed much sign of wear.

With no practical way to resew the seams on a sewing machine, hand sewing was the best way to make the jacket wearable. Between getting the layers to line back up to make the double stitched flat seam, hand sewing, and really thick, dence material to sew through, this was a slow and hand muscle demanding job.

With other seams about to have the same fate, I'm hoping it holds until a new one is issued. To my husband, I love you, but I don't love mending your jacket.

It's Christmas party season! Which often means "ugly" sweater time too.

With a time crunch and nothing in stores for a guy's "ugly sweater", it's a DIY day this Sunday. Here's the ugly sweater for my husband to wear at a Christmas Party and a little about how it was made.

First a 4 strand braid was made for the ribbon which got stitched on when it was done. Then a piece of wire was added to the bow ribbon to give it some structure and attached to the sweater. The final touch was the tag, cut out of some cardstock laying around.

It's not really washable... but will do the trick for one party and he'll fit right into the theme

What does hemming a fully beaded gown take? Time... lots of time.

Each strand of beads needs to be refastened/tied off at the appropriate height before the extra length can get trimmed off. This is done by hand and the most time consuming part of the project.
