As a result of the November 7, 2015 fire near our building,
Duval & Reid Menswear has made the decision not to re-open.
It is with a heavy heart and tears in my eyes that I make this announcement. This decision is not easy and has not been made in haste. The Reid family came to Moberly in 1928 and took over a business that lasted for over 125 years, and it is you, our customers all those many years, that made it possible.
We have enjoyed serving the area and treasure the many friendships we have developed, more than you will know. If you have shopped in our store, you know this.
Over the three months since the fire, the outpouring of concern, support and offers to help have been overwhelming and will never be forgotten. Though many of you may be curious and might not understand why we are not re-opening, the last year and-a-half has been difficult and life changing for Duval & Reid.
We have given careful business and personal consideration to this decision and know it is best for all of our family.
Though this is not easy to do, we appreciate your understanding of the decision we have made.
We have enjoyed the ride:
Forney Clothing Company - 1890-1928
Duval & Reid Clothing Company - 1928-2015
Respectfully submitted in honor of my grandfather, William M. Reid, and my father, William F. Reid.
Bill Reid
