Check out this fantastic Goodwill find we just picked up: a 1954–1958 Mid-Century Modern chrome dinette set. The entire set is nearly flawless; aside from some normal fading on the vinyl, there are no tears or rips. Whoever owned this took exceptional care of it!
We will be polishing the chrome and replacing a few nuts and bolts to ensure it's in top shape. Soon, this beautiful 'Atomic Age' dining set—featuring its original mustard-yellow, floral Damask-pattern vinyl—will be available in the shop.

I love these old GE brass articulating fans. This 100-year-old fan was great for restoring. Completely disassembled, sandblasted, polished, oiled, greased, and rewired. It's whisper quiet and works like new! They just don’t make things like they used to.

Foundry patterns have been used for thousands of years, dating back to ancient civilizations that first discovered how to pour molten metal into sand molds to create tools and art. This unique fish pattern was once the heart of the casting process, acting as a master template to leave a perfect impression in a sand mold before being replaced by glowing, liquid metal. While it began its life in the heat of a busy industrial shop, it now serves as a unique piece of architectural wall art or a conversation-starting display piece.

Just brought in a trailer full of old tools, cabinets and oil sign. The map cabinets are full of old drawings, blueprints and manuals. The tools have been in the family for several generations and contain a great mix of some very primitive hand tools.

I took a quick trip to Nebraska to pick up 40 very cool large Holophane light fixtures. I knew nothing about where the lights came from, other than Randy—the guy I spoke with—had them in storage.

After passing many cows, cornfields, and casinos, I came upon the small village of Greenwood, Nebraska. It’s about half the size, but very reminiscent of my hometown, Monroeville. Grain silos are the largest structures there, other than the water tower.

Randy’s building sat in the middle of town, and the sign in front of it was also very familiar: Yoder’s Amish Furniture. I went in and met Randy. He said that the lights came from his shop and then we started talking about his furniture business. He was telling me how he goes to the Berlin, Ohio area to get his furniture inventory. Small world, right?

He asked me where I was from. I told him Monroeville. He said, “What?? I stop there all the time on my way back home and eat at Pean’s Pizza!”
Yeah—very small world.

On my way home, I did go through LeClaire, Iowa, so I stopped to do some picking at American Pickers. They had some very cool stuff, but the only things I ended up getting were a shot glass and a coffee mug.

This past week we left the cold weather of Ohio and headed south. The trip lasted a little longer than expected as we had a couple of delays but with the temperatures in the 70’s, I wasn’t complaining 🤷🏻‍♂️. We had 8 deliveries which took us around the entire coastline of Florida and then a final stop in Alabama at an old government ordinance facility built in 1916 that manufactured ammonium nitrate. There we brought back a trailer load of these original Holophane lights.

One of my favorite shows is The Boys on Amazon prime. So I was very excited when they called and needed some lighting for the new prequel to that series. Shooting begins in Toronto in few days, so we had to rush these light fixtures through for them to pick up. Can’t wait to spot them when the series comes out!
