Good Morning All;
First, let me address a frustrating situation that we all face. We are inundated with Robo and marketing calls,
(an average of 20 per day 🥴). If this post doesn’t answer your questions, you MUST leave a message if you wish to speak with me.
The incredibly busy Prom and Wedding seasons are upon us once again. Here is what I know in reference to dates for Proms as of now;
Mooresville HS-04/11/26
Pine Lake HS- 04/24/26
Lake Norman HS- 04/25/26
South Iredell HS- 05/09/26
On the Monday of your respective Prom weeks there will be an additional $100 fee. There is a $50 fee as it’s the week of order and our Distributor is processing Prom Orders for weeks in advance of yours. The other $50 is for shipping as your order will have to be shipped instead of arriving to me in our normal van delivery service.
These will be our areas largest Proms and it is time to begin the process for ALL April proms. Please feel free to comment on other schools’ Prom dates in the comment section.
I realize again this year that there is a need to explain a few things concerning Tux rentals for Proms.
This will be a lengthy post, but please read through entirely to clear up some misconceptions I am experiencing.
We cannot accept appointments due to the fact that I am also operating a retail store that does not include rentals during the week. If I were to accept an appointment and someone comes in to purchase clothing 10 minutes prior to that appointment, they would of course take precedence and then you would be upset because you had an appointment. Therefore, students will be fitted on a first come first serve basis.
The waiting list increases as the day progresses. When students are released from school it becomes much busier as it gets later in the day.
We are available for measurement and rentals Mon.- Fri.
We open at 10am and the whole process is stopped at 4:30pm even though I am open until 6pm, I need that last hour and a half to call in the day’s orders to insure availability.
Many days I will stop the waiting list earlier than 4:30pm because there are enough students waiting to keep me at the store until 7pm or later. That equates to a lengthy wait for you also. I wish I had a crystal ball and could tell you what days this would occur, but obviously there is no way to predict this. Obviously, half days, teacher work days, spring breaks, etc will increase the volume of students coming into the store to be fitted, so pack your patience. 😉
A few frustrated customers have commented that,
“I should hire some additional help”!
This is approximately an 8 week BUSY season, with weddings also very prominent.
The Tuxedo rental service is just one service we offer, as we are also a full service Menswear Boutique. Therefore, I close the retail space on weekends and schedule appointments for wedding couples to accommodate their needs. This is why I cannot do prom fittings on the weekends.
As to the aforementioned “hiring of help” situation.
Each student is personally fitted by me and this is not something I can train someone for and then lay them off after this 8 week period.
I do have some part time and family help in preparation of tuxes but not in the fitting process.
I realize Prom is very important to many and that work, school sports schedules, etc… present conflicts in our system. I have tried to make it as accessible as I possibly can.
It’s time NOW to begin your process for ALL April Proms, and all May Proms will begin measurements and orders on April 1st.
EVERYTHING in our rental package is included with the exception of the following items; Undergarments, socks and belt. You come up with those three items and what I provide will insure you are FULLY dressed for your Prom….(yes, this includes shoes).
The cost is $225 + tax. We DO NOT CHARGE for upgrades, additional items such as the aforementioned shoes, pocket squares, jewelry, damage waivers, etc…This price is for our TOP OF THE LINE RENTAL APPAREL, by designers such as Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Ike Behar to name a few. So as you shop price, and we encourage you to do so, be certain to compare apples to apples, whereas competitors usually have additional upgrade prices for items NOT included in their published prices, and you will find on many occasions their published prices are NOT for their top of the line choices.
We have been considered an Elite Dealer with Jim’s Formal Wear for over 15 years in Historic Downtown Mooresville and therefore can offer a lower price than most, so I pass this discount along to our Patrons!
Bottom line on pricing….The $189 published prices of some competitors, many times ends up closer to $300 after all the additional charges.
There is a $50 non-refundable deposit required at the time of measurement that will be deducted from the total price, with the balance due at time of pickup two days prior to prom. Any orders that are received in the week PRIOR to ANY Prom will be charged a $100 rush fee to accommodate the freight charges and fees charged by my distributor for late orders, as those tuxes won’t make the delivery van and will have to be shipped. Please remember, it is Prom and Wedding season all across the nation, not just here in our area.
I hope this post is received in the spirit intended. I ENJOY working with the students and this is one of my favorite times of the year. I want to help as many of you as possible, and I have tried to do all I can to make that happen.
So, for those that hold Prom in high regard, if the schedule and prerequisites I have mentioned don’t meet yours, perhaps an hour off work or getting permission from a coach or administration to be released early one day would be a consideration.
It is very important to me to be able to accommodate your needs and I can only hope it’s that important to you all as well.
Thank You !
And…
May God Bless and Keep You and May His countenance shine upon you!
