Christmas came early! Tony did the research and ordered this beast of a press—along with a new oven specifically for film transfers—and these upgrades have already exceeded every expectation. The build quality and functionality are on a completely different level compared to my previous presses. It even came with multiple platens for sleeves, infant sizes, oversized garments, bags, and more, which seriously expands variety.
Be sure to watch until the end for the side-by-side comparison. My previous press that died was the same brand as the orange one in the video. It lasted me about three years, and while it’s a popular brand, we ran into recurring issues right out of the box. Our units arrived with shipping damage, and the inspection tags told a story of their own. We were sent replacements, but they showed other defects.
Eventually, we stripped them for parts just to keep our original machines running. I’m not saying the brand is bad, but there is a quarter-inch gap around the upper platen and metal frame that I am not a fam of. The garments can sit unevenly in those gaps, it increases the risk of creating glossy marks from collars, seams, or pockets.
The new oven, on the other hand, is a night-and-day difference! It heats up dramatically faster, and when we tested it with a temp reader, the heat distribution was completely even. The film oven I previously purchased on Amazon had zero temperature control—the left corner would spike to 400°F while the top right struggled to reach 250°F. You can actually see the yellowing caused by those hot spots in the video.
These upgrades aren’t just exciting—they’re game-changers for quality, consistency, and workflow.
