Health update for Lake🚒🚔
Now that our families know ….
Please read ♥️
This weekend was one of those weekends we wish we could hold on to forever ❤️
I’ve looked back at these pictures more times than I can count and my heart is just so full. So many smiles and precious memories with the people we love most. Life has a way of reminding you just how precious the little things really are and lately we’ve been holding on to those moments a little tighter.
Lake was just 4 months old when he was diagnosed with a rare genetic disease called Adrenoleukodystrophy or ALD. For the last several years we have been so incredibly blessed with healthy MRIs as the disease remained dormant. We prayed that it would stay that way forever but unfortunately his most recent MRI showed changes we had hoped and prayed we would never have to face. ❤️
ALD affects the brain and nervous system and can take away a child’s ability to walk talk and do so many of the little things we often take for granted. It’s such a heartbreaking reality to face after how much he has had to endure. Now we have another journey ahead, and one we’re still trying to wrap our heads around.
We have a referral to an ALD care center in Atlanta and will be meeting with the neurologist there soon to find out what comes next. Until then we’re taking things one day at a time and making sure our boy gets to enjoy every bit of being little. And goodness if you know Lake you know that boy has a way of making even the hardest days a little brighter.
If y’all could do one thing for us please keep our Lake covered in prayer. Pray for healing for his little body and wisdom for his doctors. Pray for Landon and me and for Emma and Dillon as we navigate all the unknowns ahead.
We don’t know what tomorrow holds but we’re doing our best not to let the fear of it steal the joy we have today. We’re trusting God with the things we can’t control and thanking Him for every precious moment we get.
Thank y’all for loving our family and for every prayer whispered over our boy. We sure do love our big baby boy and we’re going to keep making every moment count ❤️
** Thank you for all the first responders who came out to celebrate him. He tells us he wants to be a police officer when he grows up. I know this made such an impression on him. I mean that smile says it all!
