The Green Door is first and foremost a place for folks to come looking for deals on good used clothing. It's also a place to find STUFF you won't find anywhere else (see below). It's a place where you can go and have fun, especially if you are a bargain shopper who would like to get in on a good deal without having to mortgage the farm. ONE If you're going to throw away your clothing anyway, you should be buying gently used clothing in the first place and save yourself a lot of money. Or,
TWO Instead of paying $87.50 for a new Ralph Lauren shirt at Younkers, why not buy the same shirt (okay, okay . . .someone else may have worn it already) for a TENTH of the price? At the Green Door, the Big Ticket Items are in the twenty dollar range. You can get suits and coats and sports jackets and lamps and lamp shades all for well under twenty dollars. Vernon on the old Lincoln Highway takes under 15 minutes. You can't even drive from one side of Cedar Rapids to the other in the same amount of time. Vernon has many small speciality shops and is, of course, home to the famed Lincoln Cafe.
