We have a passion for inspiring women to embrace their unique style, while empowering them to persevere through life's obstacles. Over a decade ago, I was a lost soul that truly lacked the support and inspiration a young woman requires in order to have a clear vision for what my future was supposed to be. I did well academically, however I never felt like I was capable of achieving anything great.
Everything changed when I met someone that saw in me what I couldn’t see and truly believed what no one around me believed. He had recently ended his tour in the Navy and I was working as a designer at a floral shop. He was a little random, but he made me feel beautiful and strong. He pushed me to step outside of my comfort zone. He inspired confidence and created a foundation that I never had before. He didn’t do this with stacks of money or fancy cars, but by listening, guiding, or by simply giving me a hug and telling me everything was going to be okay. In the beginning of our journey things certainly weren’t ideal. We lived in a studio apartment with a unique stale aroma that existed no matter how many times we washed the walls or cleaned the carpets, our bed folded into the wall and you could hear every footstep, cough, sneeze and TV show from the neighboring apartments. We maxed out plasma donations just to buy a surplus of Tony’s frozen pizzas in hopes they would get us through the week, and also spent many years working the graveyard shift in the production/manufacturing world just to keep our heads above water. Our big adventures included watching movies at the Capitol Theater in Brigham City, Utah, spending countless summer afternoons and evenings wandering aimlessly through the aisles of Wal-Mart just to take advantage of the air conditioning that our studio apartment couldn’t provide, or cruising down main street for a few blocks in an old Dodge Ram with the windows rolled down as we rapped to the tune of 2pac’s “California Love”. Most wouldn’t view those memories as special, however to me they will always be 5 star experiences that taught me how to truly cherish every moment life has to offer. After years and years of grinding and supporting each other we finally reached a stable point in our lives and tied the knot. I was officially a Mays! Melissa Mays. To me being a Mays meant having a solid sense of purpose, strength, and comfort. I vowed to never return to the shell of who I once was and with a larger platform I will do everything possible to be aware of those around me who may be experiencing a lack of self confidence or purpose in their lives, and promise to provide support whenever I can. Having someone in your corner is so important when it comes to tackling the difficult or ugly side of life. Don’t get me wrong, my life still isn’t without its challenges, and I must say dealing with Mr. Mays is not always the easiest. I have a long way to go in order to achieve all of my goals, but all in all life as a Mays has been pretty damn good! I’ve dabbled in Real Estate where I’ve been successful moving mountains in order to help people find their dream homes and opportunities. I’ve led countless multimillion dollar initiatives in the BioTech Industry. I learned how to ride a motorcycle, also known as my wind therapist. You can catch me on any given weekend flying through the twisted backroads taking in the beauty of Mother Nature. I have a 7 year old daughter who is the light of my life, and over two years ago we decided to move from the Wasatch Mountains of Northern Utah, my home state of 33 years to beautiful, green Middle Tennessee in an effort to provide a new/different experience for our family. I couldn’t be happier with this decision as I have met some of the most genuine, fun loving people along the way. I am so excited for the experiences to come, and the new people I will meet within this new business venture. I truly value your support and I am excited for you to take a ride On Mays Street where you'll experience clothing that embodies the struggle of navigating challenges, defying set-backs, and capturing the excitement and joy of each and every comeback.
