QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Self-Checkout: Love It or Loathe It?

Self-checkout at grocery and other retail stores was supposed to save money and increase efficiency.
At least that was the plan.
Some shoppers love self-checkout. Just as many loathe it,
And now major retailers from Walmart to Target to Costco are rethinking the idea.
The big stores say many consumers have problems with the machines, especially properly scanning items like fruits and vegetables. They have also noticed an increase in losses from errors and theft.
One UK chain, Booths, got rid of most self-checkout stations. And here in the U.S., Target is testing a 10-item limit for self-checkout.
