I'm back! Well, I never really left, but it's been a while since I posted!

Since we opened up shop, it's been fun watching which designs are gaining traction. I love knowing there are people out there who are likeminded and in love with art and history, too.

By far, Alphonse Mucha's "The Seasons" has been our most popular shirt. Even before our first sale, it's the one I ordered for myself, so I must have been on to something. 😏

Do you know Mucha and his history? About his advertising days? I'm just getting to dig deeper into it as I've found some delightful images he created from that time. I've recently added a few more shirts featuring Mucha's art - go take a look! There's more to come.

One thing I've discovered while researching for our shirts is just how common it is for quotes to be misattributed to famous people. Someone once said something remarkable, and because the person wasn't well known, their words were swiped from their mouths and credited to a historical figure or renowned author. It's a shame credit wasn't given where it was due!

This particular quote is commonly attributed to Cicero, and its origins unfortunately are muddied. But the sentiment rings true: Books hold the mysteries and secrets of life, much as the soul does for the body.

Now that I've sufficiently nerded out over books and historic quotes (again), it's time to remind you that our holiday deadline is nigh! One thing this venture has given me the chance to do is dig back into some art that I know and love but haven't seen in some time. Paul Klee is one of those, and his work "Harbinger of Autumn."

I'm pretty sure I saw a print of this in my college art history class. One thing I'm making an effort of doing as an adult is really appreciating art the way I pretended to when I was 20.

I'm afraid it might seem trite to some to put fine arts onto t-shirts, but my motivation is one of reverence and awe. I want to be able to enjoy these masterful works more often than when I crack open an art history book, or find the time to explore an art gallery.

That's also why I will always give appropriate citations for the work on the shirt. Eventually I'm of a mind to start listing important facts about it on the back of the t-shirt, like you would see tour dates for a music artist. :)

I'm a Christmas baby. When I was headed home from the hospital just days before the holiday, the nurses bundled me up in a red Christmas stocking along with a crocheted blanket my Grandma made me. My friends even coined the term "Birthmas" to affectionately explain my conjoined celebrations, and almost all of my birthday gifts have been given to me from under a Christmas tree.

Christmas, naturally, has a special kind of importance for me, so I always make the most of it. Our son already helped us put up our Christmas tree yesterday, and I've been pouring myself into creating new holiday shirts in time for celebrations.

Every time it gets near Christmas, I start daydreaming about what it must have been like to enjoy the holidays 100 years ago. There's something magical about the simplistic scenes with quiet snow and peaceful skies, and streetscapes pre-technology and passersby face-deep in their phones.

I like to hold a little bit of that in my heart and connect a little more deeply to the season, and photos like this take me there. This tee is available at the link in our bio.
