What started as a way for brothers, Brandon (11) and Jalen (10) to make money for the summer, has blossomed into a children’s clothing line and a social media Project. Brandon and Jalen had a conversation with their dad (Clifford) asking him how they could make money for the summer so they could buy the things they wanted and
help out around the house. Clifford began to explain when he was their age, he sold boxes of M&M's to buy school clothes and pay for summer trips. So, the boys wanted to do the same. They tried selling candy at the Rec. Center where they went during summer break but was told they couldn’t sell it. They ended up the giving it away to the other kids and ate the rest themselves. Clifford thought it would be better suited that they learn how to run their own business. He asked them to ponder on a kind of business they could start. After talking with each other, they came up with a T-shirt Business under the name of P. B. & Jay (Pop, Brandon, & Jalen). Jalen came up with a concept, drew the art work, and called it, “SCREAM IT”. Which is how they started the “SCREAM IT” T-shirt Line, but their dad felt it didn’t have enough validity to what they were screaming about. When asked the question, they came up with Video Games Scream It, Basketball Scream It, and other sports with the Scream It logo. Their dad thought they needed something for adults as well, so they came up with,” I Love Jesus” SCREAM IT, and “ Black Pride” SCREAM IT . The boys and their dad brainstormed and talked about how cool it was to be doing this together, and how other kids may not have this same opportunity. At that moment, Black Pride “SCREAM IT” Peoject came together at the table. It is a way to promote positivity in the black community by having thousands screaming out they have pride in being black. Now the P.B. & JAY clothing line is taking a back seat to the Black Pride “SCREAM IT” Movement. Our goal is to get 100,000 African Americans/Blacks to join the Project by liking our page and posting a picture (in your T-shirt of course) or video expressing what black pride is to you.
