Let them be bored! It’s so good for them.

Boredom, or should I say what they consider “boredom”, helps build patience, allows them to figure out how to regulate their emotions, forces them to be creative and think!

I am not saying remove devices completely, I’m saying limit them- a lot! Aim not to replace boredom’s with a screen. Give your child time to figure out how to entertain themselves.

There are so many developmental activities a child can choose to do at any moment. There is so much to learn and discover.

If you need a little boost getting screen-time under control I’ve got two solutions for you- my video course or a 1:1 session! Check link in bio for more info.

You got this!

Does it sometimes feel like your child’s device is crazy glued to their hand?

You’re not alone! I remember, wanting to rip my kids device from their hand and throw them out the window! While we were driving!

We’ve gotten to a place where my daughter’s phone is dead most of the time. She often has no idea where it is in the morning when I ask her to take it with her so I can call her when I’m on my way to pick her up.

The freedom she has told me she feels by not being attached to her device has been such a relief. I can tell in her demeanor, she just feels better.

Devices can be a really stressful thing for kids! Misplacing it 😬 device just died and all the chargers in the house are being used 😭 forgetting to log in to an app to get their daily streak 😢 dropped it and the screen broke 😱
all of this puts unnecessary stress on them.

A goal you can aim for is to have a take it or leave it relationship with her device.

Ease the attachment they currently have. It just feels good!

Our children have such great capacity. Why not fill their minds with wholesome, enriching and engaging material?

I’ve been learning French the past year which inspired my son to start learning French. It’s fun, challenging and will allow us to be more immersive in culture when we travel.

Cognitive benefits of learning another language: The brain regions and networks involved in learning a language become stronger, adaptable, and quicker to respond, which can help improve motor tasks, mental skills, and other areas of life!

I’ve had great success with virtual tutors on and
is a nice way to get started but the best way to learn a language is to use various outlets.

What language would you want to learn? How about your child? Let me know on the comments below!

*The AAP discourages all media use for children under 2 years old aside from short video chat with family and friends.
2-5 years old: no more than 1 hour per day co-viewing with a sibling or parent
5-17 years old/ generally no more than 2 hours per day, except for homework

*You might be shocked what the AAP and CDC reports say the daily screen time average is by age group :
8-10: six hours
11-14: nine hours
15-18: seven and 1/2 hours

Digital Wellness tip of the day!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Teach your children about procrastination. Help them understand why they procrastinate and that it’s understandable! But whatever it is they are avoiding getting done isn’t going to go away. Which can lead to even more anxiety about it! Help them associate accomplishing a task with a positive feeling.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Remind them how good they felt the last time they finished a big project. Remind them how good it always feels to walk into a clean room. Remind them how “relieved” they are once the last dish is done. It feels good to get things done. It doesn’t feel good putting things off!
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Devices only give you a temporary/false feeling of relief. Getting the project done gives you the real feeling of accomplishment.

Parents, you got this!
