“The shopping center was more than a shopping center, as it served as a de facto town center for Nederland,” Tebo Properties CEO James Dixon wrote in an email to the Daily Camera. “…Our initial plans are to clean up the rubble and figure out how to rebuild. Right now we have about a dozen tenants, and even more employees who have lost their livelihoods and our focus is on coming together as a community to support them. I would like to extend a sincere thanks to the local fire departments, Sheriff’s office (also a tenant in the center) ATF and other organizations who have been on site all day preventing the fire from spreading to neighboring structures.”

James was up here yesterday, and I have been on the phone with him and the staff at Tebo Properties today. They are working on getting information to all tenants that will be helpful to us as we move forward.

Stephen Tebo has always been very supportive of this community, and they are doing everything they can to support us. Stephen is very aware of how important the shopping center is to Nederland.

This morning all of the business in the Caribou Shopping Center in Nederland burned down, total loss.
This GOFUNDME is to benefit all of the business that were lost. All of us are local small business owners and all of our employees are local community members.

I am sorry to report that the shopping center where The Shop is located burned down this morning. This is what The Shop looks like now. I am most concerned about my employees as well as the other business owners and their staff. This was always a labor of love for me and I will really miss it.

Hello friends and neighbors—
We want to help recycle your gently used clothing (no stains or tears please) so it may live on and continue to be loved! We will take the relocation portion of thrift donation off your hassle list!
We would love to be able to offer kid’s clothing at reasonable prices so feel free to include kid’s clothes.

The Shop at Nederland is now offering pick up service—we will come to you, load up the nice things you’re ready to move on from, and we’ll handle the schlepping to our store. Our pickup area is limited to Nederland and Gilpin County for now.
