I have gotten inquiries about the different types of projects I will and won't sew; here is a list to simplify for you.
Note that I love to recycle fabrics whenever possible, so I will use some from my stash and encourage customers to purchase cotton sheets, table cloths, or curtains at thrift shops for me to sew into something new for you. I also encourage using natural fibers.
I do excellent work and I charge reasonable rates. Custom made garments won't necessarily be less expensive than something you purchase ready-made, however mine will be better quality and last longer than many cheaply made items. I cannot compete with Walmart prices!
Yes to:
• Sewing new garments if you provide a pattern
• Fabric purses and shopping bags
• Pillows and pillow cases
• Sewing chair seats and backs for folding wood chairs
• Making napkins, place mats, coasters, table cloths/runners, aprons
• Simple curtains
• Revamping an old garment into something new
• Patching holes in garments
• Shortening hems, replacing buttons
• Minor alterations on clothes
No to:
• Sewing pet clothes
• Making Pretty Pony or other similar toys (I prefer making more realistic animals and dolls!)
• Doing invisible weaving to repair wool garments
• Wedding gowns
• Replacing zippers
• Mending/sewing with slippery fabrics
• Reupholstering furniture
• Making new chair seats that need to be sewn onto a folding chair (my machine won't do that. I can make them new backs, though)
• Fancy pleated drapes
