at Grayscale this week I’ve been thinking a lot about where I want HAUNTWELL to go. I think I’ve been realizing that the vibe needs a little shift, as the base of all of it was formed in the first few years 2016-2018, and that’s just — not what I’m personally tapped in to anymore, nor do I think it really exists in a younger culture fully in the way I know. it’s an unexpected thing I didn’t realize I would deal with running a business for a decade! 😅🖤 but I’m turning 37 this year, a far stretch from the 27yo I was when I started, and I think I’m figuring out that I either need to find what feels more comfortable and authentic for Current Me — and/or maybe pass the vibe off to younger minds and aesthetics and see where they take it. Gen Z and Gen Alpha have such a vastly different approach to fashion now and I am definitely curious how they’d style my pieces! but I also think I want to explore how my own peers might style these differently now that we’re in our mid-late thirties —
it’s so wonderful to look back on all our photos throughout our history (mostly shot by my incredible friend ), and I think ultimately I’m excited to try new things and reach out to some creators of all ages and see what they’d do with my beloveds 🖤✨

TEN YEARS AGO today I took these photos of myself in my first round of shirts in my first three sigils 🖤 ten years and twenty-seven more sigils later… still hand-printing each tee, still wearing some of these myself (though not those crop tees, they were so tiny!! 🥲)

I was thinking about the “warrior’s armament” sigil trio again tonight (last slide) and realized that I wanted to create a few more for these… deeply unsettling times.

there’s so much going on, not only in the US but dark times all across the world that these would be relevant to. and while I don’t prefer to use any online platform to try to convince anyone of my own views (I suspect anyway that a wide majority of those following me here are likeminded in that we all want peace, happiness, and good things for ourselves and others, as my sigil work is all about this!!), I’ll just leave these here and remind you that you can draw/paint/tattoo/otherwise use them in personal ritual and need (as long as you aren’t selling/financially profiting from/claiming them as your own creations, please thankyou 🖤)
mostly, the news just constantly has me feeling like I need comfort and strength, so I thought these might help some of you too. 🖤🖤🖤

IMPORTANT POST. 🖤
hi everyone 🖤 I’ve made the decision to make some big changes. I’ll be closing the online shop for orders indefinitely at the end of december 1st, so if you’ve wanted to order anything or want any holiday gifts, please order by then. 🖤

WHY: my life has changed pretty dramatically (for the better!) this year — I got engaged in february (!!) and then got a new full-time job in may that’s made a huge difference in my struggle to make a living as an artist. I’ve found that my focus has shifted towards both my new work and my family; I’m no longer needing to push HW to be more profitable, but I ultimately have less time and energy to put towards it now without constantly fighting overwork and burnout.

THE BAD NEWS: in order to scale back on my workload I’ll no longer be offering on-demand and custom orders for the foreseeable future.

THE GOOD NEWS: HW is not over, it’s just in a transition era!! I’ll still be at local markets occasionally here in houston and I’m scheduled for the htx/dallas/denver oddities expos next year. I will also be shifting to pursuing wholesale orders, so if you have a local shop you think would like my tees, please send them my way!

WHAT’S NEXT: I’m formulating a plan to do fixed-quantity, small batch online releases and possible preorders of any new items, OOAK pieces, and possibly poster prints in the future, so please keep following for drop info 🖤 I am also most importantly working on an ORACLE DECK with all of the sigils, and finally a COMPENDIUM BOOK as a companion to it with full explanations of each sigil, their correspondences, and my process — to be released online ASAP in the first half of next year. ✨

I am so, so immensely grateful for all of the support you’ve all shown me since I began, and I want my sigils to continue to help and empower you in new and enduring ways!! I have a lot of plans and ideas still, and I hope you’ll continue to watch this space as I find a new way to fit this work into this new chapter of my life. 🖤🖤🖤 all my love, and my most sincere thanks // jenny
