For , we want to remind everyone that the mid Hudson Valley has some remarkable qualified production facilities that have hosted Film & TV productions as far back as 2008. Stages include Cobalt Stages, Kingston Studios NY, Michelson Studios in Wingdale, Umbra of Newburgh, and Upriver in Saugerties. The attached photo shows the space at the Motorcyclopedia Museum (part of Umbra). The top is from October 2010 when the space was first used for the film RETURN with Linda Cardellini, Michael Shannon and John Slattery. On Oct 29, 2010, at 5:05 PM, the following email was received from the NY State Governor's Office for Motion Picture & Television Development; "Motorcyclepedia Motorcycle Museum is officially qualified as a NY State QPF. Aaron you can inform your people that they can start filming in the facility."
The bottom photo (with rig) shows the space in January of 2021 as the set is being prepared for Darren Aronofsky's THE WHALE, with Oscar winner Brendan Fraser, Hong Chau, Sadie Sink, Ty Simpkins, and Samantha Morton.
