// Partnered with Brooklyn-based ceramist Sarah Lam to create these bespoke dinnerware sets for the LAO UN MISSION PROJECT / Permanent Mission of the Lao People's Democratic Republic to the United Nations.

Green represents the lush natural landscapes of Laos, including its forests, rice fields, and serene mountain backdrops of the countryside. We paired this grounded earthy tones, palette with a simple, traditional Lao motif to subtly elevate the minimalism, honoring both heritage and function.

Each piece is handmade with intention, bridging Brooklyn craftsmanship with Laotian identity.

// Crafted by skilled artisans, this wall covering brings warmth and a calming atmosphere through its unique patterns and tactile finish. Embracing natural textures, distinctive grains, and organic imperfections, it offers truly one-of-a-kind designs created specifically for the Lao UN Mission Project. Made from Tai Lue cotton, an ethnic minority group in northern Laos, along with handwoven Hmong h**p and natural jungle vine fiber, each piece reflects the rich cultural heritage and craftsmanship of the region.

Collaborating closely with Lao artisans to bring this vision to life has been an incredibly meaningful experience for me. Being part of the first installation of the wall covering was a proud and emotional milestone, not only as a designer but as someone deeply connected to my Lao heritage. It was important for me to honor and share the beauty of our traditions through this work.

// I’ve accomplished many things in my life, but never in my wildest dreams did I imagine this journey unfolding the way it has. From starting as a self-taught fashion designer to now completing my first interior design project—the LAO UN MISSION PROJECT, this milestone holds profound personal significance.

Coming from a family that immigrated to the U.S. and 25 years ago, I moved to New York City with nothing but ambition, $200, and an unwavering belief in my creative vision. What began as a passion for fashion has now evolved into interior design, allowing me to merge craftsmanship, storytelling, and cultural heritage in ways I never anticipated. This journey is a testament to resilience, reinvention, and the power of trusting one's path.

To all the artisans I had the privilege of connecting with, working with, and forming meaningful friendships with—thank you for welcoming me into your family. Your craftsmanship, dedication, and generosity have been a source of deep inspiration throughout this journey.

To those who navigated my perfectionism, late-night ideas, and moments of self-doubt, thank you for your patience, support, and belief in me. Undertaking a major project like this was not a decision made lightly. As I stepped into new professional territory, I was also quietly navigating profound personal grief—the loss of my mom, grandmother, and my beloved dog, Dexter. The initial excitement and anticipation were juxtaposed against the backdrop of mourning, creating a poignant duality that defined this chapter of my life.

To my friends in the interior design world, thank you for encouraging me not to miss this opportunity. Your guidance and support have meant more than words can express.

A heartfelt thank you to (former) Ambassador Anouparb, as he returns to Laos for a new chapter of service, for trusting me with this vision, and to Kasey for making that first call while I was in Laos to discuss this opportunity and believing in my potential. This truly feels like a full-circle moment that will forever hold a special moment in my heart.

I hope I have made the Lao culture, the community, and my family proud.

// It began with a return to my roots—a desire to deepen my connection to the soul of my heritage through craft, a journey that started with my first visit to Laos in 2018. I reached out to a Lao artisan whose family has been weaving rugs for generations to collaborate on the LAO UN MISSION PROJECT. Our first conversation wasn’t just about design; it was about legacy. We spoke of symbols, stories, and the meaning behind every thread.

From there, we sketched a vision that merged ancestral techniques with a contemporary sensibility. Months later, that vision came to life. Each rug’s motif was thoughtfully chosen to reflect key elements of Lao culture—nature, spirituality, and community. The process was intimate, slow, and deeply intentional. One rug was handwoven in silk, the other in a luxurious silk-wool blend.

What emerged is more than a rug—it’s a living narrative. A piece that honors the past, exists in the present, and helps elevate a more meaningful future. And it all began with the Lao UN Mission Project.

// The LAO UN MISSION PROJECT renovation are becoming the highlight of my week. Each time I come by and see more progress my emotions get high. Tears are real as I soaked it all in especially the motif rugs. Lighting is mostly in, Made in Laos custom furnitures arrived, (minus a few latecomers and broken parts needing replacement) and hardware is almost all done. Then the last of the wallpaper, extra furnishings, window coverings, touch-ups, and the team can officially move in. Stay tuned… 🇱🇦
