I want to cry over how inspiring my experience at penland has been. I have felt enlightened by so many talented artists here, and feel so much more connected with my intuitions as an artist. The growth I’ve felt over these past two weeks has been exponential and life changing

I LOVE/HATE the new year! It feels like you’re running out of time while amping yourself up - waiting to awake a new version of you. I’ve had a lot of growing pains this year so just reflecting on the last two sweaters I knit of 2024. Reminding myself I’m doing great 💕🎀 cheers to 2025!! 🎆🎈

“Playing Pretend”

I’ve been knitting this sweater over the past few months, which has been emotionally taxing but rewarding. With every sweater I make, I take it as an opportunity to explore! I wanted the artwork to bleed out onto the trims which turned into some experimental linking. I love taking my machine to the next level and break rules along the way 🧶 I also experimented in my personal life by standing up for myself more and taking on challenges I’ve been afraid of (PSA: bullies don’t disappear when you grow up like I always thought)

Some loose thoughts from my brain and sketchbook:

I’ve been bending over backwards until I broke. Trying on different personalities, investigating the different facets of myself, all to keep you at bay. Stretching myself so thin that I’ve lost track of what form I started at before meeting you. These are all little pieces of me, full of grief but perseverance.
