Capstone Project for my AAS thesis. Inspired by the myth of Pandora’s Box. She was the first woman in Greek mythology, created as a form of revenge and punishment. Her purpose was to take a gold sealed box down to earth, and was told to never open it under any circumstances. Curiosity got the better of Pandora and she lifted the lid, releasing all the evils of the world. Before she was created, Earth was a paradise, populated by men, who lived free from hardship. She marked the end of paradise.
The purpose of this patriarchal society is to highlight that women must be ruled by men, and that they would be subjected to punishment or demonization if they didn’t follow the rules. Misogyny has been entrenched in our culture since the earliest days of storytelling.
Pandora means gift-giver, all-giving, all-gifted... She was an Earth Goddess. This myth has been an example of hatred towards women, because it attributes the origin of evil in the universe to the existence of women. My CONCEPT is to DISMANTLE this myth and transform it into a matriarchal version. She was created, not to punish, but to gift blessings and lead the way for women to find their power. When she opened the box, she became defiant, challenging masculine authority. As she opened the box, she created a path for women to be strong, courageous, curious, defiant, and FREE. The box set Pandora free. She became a symbol of life, death, and rebirth. All the components that lead to change, transformation, and freedom. 💫🧡

Proyecto final para mi tesis de mi AAS. Inspirado en el mito griego de la caja de Pandora. Ella fue la primera mujer de la mitología griega, creada como una forma de venganza y castigo. Su propósito era llevar una caja de oro sellada a la Tierra, y se le dijo que nunca la abriera bajo ninguna circunstancia. La curiosidad venció a Pandora y ella levantó la tapa, liberando todos los males del mundo. Antes de su creación, la Tierra era un paraíso, poblado por hombres, que vivían libres de dificultades. Ella marcó el final del paraíso.
El propósito de esta sociedad patriarcal es resaltar que las mujeres deben ser gobernadas por hombres y que serían castigadas o demonizadas si no seguían las reglas. La misoginia ha estado arraigada en nuestra cultura desde los principios de la narración de historias.
Pandora significa dar todo... Ella era una Diosa de la Tierra. Este mito ha sido un ejemplo de odio hacia las mujeres, porque atribuye el origen del mal en el universo a la existencia de las mujeres. Mi CONCEPTO es DESMANTELAR este mito y transformarlo en una versión matriarcal. Fue creada, no para castigar, sino para regalar bendiciones y liderar el camino para que las mujeres encuentren su poder. Cuando abrió la caja, se volvió desafiante, desafiando la autoridad masculina. Al abrir la caja, creó el camino para que las mujeres sean fuertes, valientes, curiosas, desafiantes y LIBRES. La caja liberó a Pandora. Se convirtió en símbolo de vida, muerte y renacimiento. Todos los componentes que conducen al cambio, la transformación y la libertad. 💫🧡
